is a free two-day event for Hive enthusiasts with engaging seminars & ticketed competitive tournament with exclusive prizes.

The main event will be a one-day-long Open tournament on Saturday 21st June 2025, followed by seminars and workshops on Sunday 22nd June 2025, in the morning. Read the blog article about last year to know how it was (great!).

Who is this event for?
This event is for Hive players and enthusiasts from around the world, whether you're a competitive player or a casual fan. Players from across Europe and beyond will be attending, and special guest John Yianni, the creator of Hive, will be there too! The event is co-organized by Gen42, the Magyar Hive Klub, and Reflexshop.
Where is the event?
The event will take place at the Hungarian University of Physical Education and Sports Science in Budapest, Hungary, a well-connected venue in the heart of the Buda area.
Ticket & Registration
You are free to participate on either of the two or both days. All you have to do is to fill out the registration form. To participate in the tournament you will need to also buy the entrance ticket.
- To play in the Open tournament on Saturday the entry fee is £20, early bird discounted fee is £10 (before the 1st of April), Junior ticket (under 18) is £10.
- The Convention on Sunday is free to anyone who wants to attend.
Prizes & Exclusive Gadgets
The winner of the Open will receive: a trophy and a custom-made metallic Hive set, created in honor of Hive's 25th anniversary.
The top junior, as well as the second and third-place winners of the Open: will receive medals, a Hive Ultimate set, and a magnetic Hive set.
Every participant will receive: new reserve pieces mat, tote bag, exclusive event t-shirt.


Schedule

Friday 20th June: friendly dinner to meet the rest of the community. Optional for those who are in Budapest on Friday already. The time and place will be decided later on.
Saturday 21st June: European Hive Open (number of rounds and exact times can change depending on the number of participants)
- Opening 9.30
- Rounds 1-2 10.00-13.00
- lunch break 13.00-14.30
- Rounds 3-5 14.30-19.30
- Dinner 20.00
Sunday 22nd June: European Hive Convention
- Seminars and Workshops 10.00-11.00.
- Workshops (2 sections, beginner and advanced): 11.00-12.30.
- Final remarks, Closure and lunch from 14.00.
Changes to the schedule could be made to improve the quality of the event. The final schedule will be updated here and emailed to the participants a few days before the Convention starts.
More about the venue


The venue is the Hungarian University of Physical Education and Sports Science (Magyar Testnevelési és Sporttudományi Egyetem), located in the centre of the Buda area of Budapest (Alkotás u. 42-48, 1123 Hungary). The University is within walking distance from Déli train station and accessible by Metro (M2) or bus/tram (n5) from Keleti train station.
The Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport is located less than 1 hour by taxi or bus (100E) from the city and it supports several low-cost airline flights.
If you want to visit the beautiful city of Budapest, the venue is also 10 minutes away from Buda Old Town, 5 minutes away from Gesztenyés Park and 20 minutes away from the Elizabeth Lookout! Find here a short list of places to visit with more info.

Several hotels are available in the area, without considering many other Airbnb and hostel options: Novotel Hotel, Ibis Hotel, Hotel Gold, Hotel Mediterran, Jagelló Business Hotel.

200 metres far from the venue there is a shopping mall (MOM Park) with a wide choice of restaurants and shops
